The Medal of Honor

Every morning you wake up remembering that day you save the life of one of your follow soldier, when you risk your life and gave everything up for the life of the person you worked with. Remembering the last thing you said to your family members and thinking if you are ever going to see them again. These thought and memories still did not stop you. You put your mind on something and did it that is why you are now a Medal of Honor winner.
The medal to me means that you are the bravest of the bravest, that you are caring and heroic. It’s having the highest honor. I believe this because the recipients risk their lives to save others. Also they save some bodies lives so they are a hero and they must have cared about all the people to risk there lives to save them. Because of there action I believe that they deserve having the highest honor for saving other lives.
The Medal of Honor is given by the president to the bravest soldiers. These soldiers have to make an important decision of risking there lives to save the lives of other. The most amazing part was that some soldiers did not even thing about it because they already knew that what to do.
To me the statement “sometimes it is easier winning the metal of honor than to wear it” means that they do not want to be know for something they did because everybody could have done it. I also believe that it takes a very heroic person to stand up for something they believe strongly about. Maybe anybody could have it done but nobody got up but you.
In conclusion I think that the Medal of Honor mean that you are very heroic and is only given to the bravest soldiers that risk their lives to save others. Even though some of the winners of the medal say that it was easier to win the medal than to wear it I believe that it is one of the most highest honor given to a soldier and should be put on with pride. Also some say that they did not want to be known for something they did because everybody could have done it but it takes a very brave and heroic person to stand up and do what they did. Thank you for being brave soldier it makes me proud to be an American.

Paul J. Wiedorfer

Dear Staff Sergeant Paul J. Wiedorfer,

My name is Lupe Melendez. I am 15 years old. I attend Farragut Career Academy in Chicago, Illinois. I am in the JROTC program in school. I am also in my second year of high school. I’m writing this letter to thank you for your bravery and for risking your life to save other by stopping the two machinegun nest. Then leading the platoon until the mission was accomplished.
Your bravery has benefited our country by saving lives of others. You have showed this country that we can help others with out wanting anything for ourselves and not be selfish and only think about them selves. Also you showed this country that super heroes are real and they are normal, every day people.
Your have showed me personally that there are people that are really care about all kinds of people. That is willing to risk their lives to save lives of others when they are in need. The best part is that you are a person that does not want anything back for yourself.
I would like to wish you a happy, peaceful and long life. Also that you get everything you have ever wanted.

Sincerely,
Lupe Melendez

Medal of Honor: Wiedorfer, Paul j.

WIEDORFER, PAUL J.

Rank and organization: Staff Sergeant (then Private), U.S. Army, Company G, 318th Infantry, 80th Infantry Division.

Place and date: Near, Chaumont, Belgium, 25 December 1944. Entered service at: Baltimore, Md. Birth: Baltimore, Md. G.O. No.: 45, 12 June 1945.

Citation: He alone made it possible for his company to advance until its objective was seized. Company G had cleared a wooded area of snipers, and 1 platoon was advancing across an open clearing toward another wood when it was met by heavy machinegun fire from 2 German positions dug in at the edge of the second wood. These positions were flanked by enemy riflemen. The platoon took cover behind a small ridge approximately 40 yards from the enemy position. There was no other available protection and the entire platoon was pinned down by the German fire. It was about noon and the day was clear, but the terrain extremely difficult due to a 3-inch snowfall the night before over ice-covered ground. Pvt. Wiedorfer, realizing that the platoon advance could not continue until the 2 enemy machinegun nests were destroyed, voluntarily charged alone across the slippery open ground with no protecting cover of any kind. Running in a crouched position, under a hail of enemy fire, he slipped and fell in the snow, but quickly rose and continued forward with the enemy concentrating automatic and small-arms fire on him as he advanced. Miraculously escaping injury, Pvt. Wiedorfer reached a point some 10 yards from the first machinegun emplacement and hurled a handgrenade into it. With his rifle he killed the remaining Germans, and, without hesitation, wheeled to the right and attacked the second emplacement. One of the enemy was wounded by his fire and the other 6 immediately surrendered. This heroic action by 1 man enabled the platoon to advance from behind its protecting ridge and continue successfully to reach its objective. A few minutes later, when both the platoon leader and the platoon sergeant were wounded, Pvt. Wiedorfer assumed command of the platoon, leading it forward with inspired energy until the mission was accomplished.

I would like to thank you for being brave also for saving a lot of people, risking your life to save them and taking command of the soldiers until the mission was over. You are a true hero. Many people would not have risk their lives to save other but you did and for that I would like to thank you again.

2 more goals down!!!!!

I have accomplished 2 goals. Some of the goals I accomplish took me more than five weeks because they were difficult to finish. But others took me about 3 to 4days.

*The first goal I accomplished was to go the corner store and buy a giant jawbreaker then eat it. This goal took me 3 days to accomplish because I had to save money and pick a good day to go to the store. When I first got it I was so glad because I’ve been waiting for a long time to eat my first giant jawbreaker and it was supposed to be sour. Then when I stared eating it, it was not sour at all I was kind of mad but I got over it because it started to change color. At the end it was full of gum that made me like it even more.

*My second and last goal I accomplished this month was to play Dark Alliance 2 by my self. While I played this game by myself I was very happy because I didn’t need to share my money with nobody. This made me very happy because my cousin would always take more than half of the money for his self. Also while playing I found out a lot of new for example how to make a fire, snow, and keen powered sword. This helped me passed the whole game without using invincibility and I have never done that before. Which made me very happy and proud because I found out can really do a lot of things if I tried.

should undocumented immigrants be allowed to stay?

this is what i think.

Most people in America have dream jobs that they make good money in. What if these jobs were taking away from you? How would you feel and what would you do to keep you’re house and pay off you’re bills? What if you can not find jobs at all? Also think about the sleepless nights you will have, thinking about a way to keep your home and still provide for you’re family. What if you’re jobs were talking over by undocumented immigrants? That can do you’re job and for less money. What if the owner of the company was caught bringing undocumented immigrants into their job? Now you can never have your dream job back. Would you still want to keep undocumented immigrants in America?

Then if we let undocumented immigrants break the rule of coming to American then all other countries will just step all over us and nobody will respect. Think about it this way, would you leave a killer out of jail because a lot of family members say so or should he serve his punishment?

Some family will be broken because of the decision to come to America. Why risk having a family broken apart? Why come to America for a better life if you’re life would be messed up because you won’t see you’re kids and grandkids grow up and have a good life you wanted them to have?

YES! ONE GOAL DOWN!

How I learn to dance sopa de carracol like my grandmother.
This is my grandmother Lupe

On September 10, 2008 I learn to dance sopa de carracol like my grandmother. It took 3 to 4 days of practice to dance the way I did in this video. It took so long since I had to continue stopping over and over again. I constantly stopped because as I was dancing my right foot was being rubbed on the floor. It does not sound painful but the true is that it really burned. Also while my right foot was being rubbed against the floor, my left was guiding the way of my dancing. It is really hard to keep your balance. It was fun but I think I would not do it again because of the pain.

Lashanda Jackson (slave narrative)

Location: Louisiana
Slave age: 98
Interviewer’s name: Lupe Melendez

I is just doing this cause I is wanting to tell me people how we darkies was treated back in the ole days. It all started in the day I is sold to ole man Tomas and I was separated from me ma and fourteen brothers and sisters. He was the meanest mans that ever walked this earth. He beat me and all the other darkies like drums, like he had no feelings at all. Everyday we work in the fields pickin’ cotton for no pay. One day I stop to take me a breath because pickin’ cotton was no easy deal for us slaves and ole man Thomas was just looking at me like never before he called out me name and I think me heart stopped. He said “come over here nigger”. Then he grab me by me neck and hair, and tied me to his horses and it pulled me crossed the bumpy field. My stomach was bleedin’ like never before. Then he would whip me by tying me to a tree for no reason just for fun. I is never ables to used me hands like I is suppose to. I been wishing of the day I could be freed then nobody could hurt me. One day ole man Thomas started looking funny, sick and weak. Then one hopeful day, two weeks later he died and all us darkies was free. Nobody telling us what to do and no more hurtin’. As time past I named myself Lashanda Jackson after my mother and grand father.

What I Value The Most.

I value my family the most because they are understanding, fun, and creative in many ways. One way that my family is understanding, is if you do mistakes they will correct you but show you how to do it right. They understand because they have made mistakes before, and sometimes the one you have done. I can tell them anything and they will not make you feel bad or laugh at me.
My family is fun because for every holiday we get together to celebrate with delicious foods, games and laughter. Some of the foods we eat are: white rice, red beans and pork chops. My favorite game in parties is musical chairs. We also laugh about thing we use to do.
My family is also very creative because we like to design, do craft, and arts. My family likes to design rooms. They also like to do crafts and arts. Some of the crafts and arts they do are key chains and bracelets. Most of the arts and crafts we do involve materials from the stores
Michaels and Hobby Lobby.
